March 15, 2011 would have been Romeo’s 6th birthday, and in honor of his birth, his mother, a WINGS graduate and one of the first people to stay at WINGS Safe House domestic violence shelter, has started Romeo’s Fund. Romeo’s birth and death were the reason his mother finally decided to get help for the abuse she was receiving at the hands of her husband. His beating caused the premature birth and ultimate death of her precious son and Romeo’s mother knew she could no longer bear the abuse or its impact on her 1 and 2 year old sons. With the help of WINGS, Romeo’s mother started on the road to a new life for herself and her children. She went back to school, received her degree, found employment and obtained counseling for the three of them. Her sons are now thriving in a loving home that she has made for them.
